Henry has cut two teeth ... well, kind of three because he fell backwards right after he got his first bottom tooth and the way he fell he cut his upper gum with the bottom tooth. The funny part is that he started grinding the upper tooth that was there so the gum never grew closed - we can see the tooth but it hasn't actually dropped down to feel it yet. i'm a bit worried he's gonna grind it down and it'll always be a shorter tooth -- at least until he's 7 anyway.
Clara is doing much better with the toileting. We rewarded her efforts and got the swimming pool out which she is having a blast in. Just last night she was jumping around the house (it was 7:30 and i was trying to get Henry calmed down for bed with his bottle) and she yells "mom, i've got the jumping jacks going!" Sure enough. She is really getting excited about school starting.
Our garden hasn't been the greatest this summer. We've got plenty of beans but the rest of the crops kind of sputtered. We have a HUGE crab grass problem. The tomatoes will be turning here soon and I'm hoping we can get enough of them since we ended up double planting anyway.
The next few weeks are quite busy. This Thursday and Friday, Jay and Ross are coming to stay the night and play. Sunday is our Church Festival. We are having friends coming to play next Tuesday and then Friday, Aug 6th we're going to the Toledo Zoo with Grandma Paula, Aunt Tammy and boys. The 7th is a Larry and Ed Gerschutz and Roger Barlage families - Mark's cousins and their kids will be there for some fun. The 8th we travel to Edgerton for Sam and Jay's birthday party. Then we have a week off and on August 16th Mark and I head to Wisconsin without kids! And then we'll have school starting. I can't believe it.
Stay Cool everyone. |

Henry now weighs 21 lb 10 oz - we had a doctor appt because he has such a bad rash from drooling so much. we're going through a stack of bibs a day plus a couple shirts. The rash is fungal (moist warm area to grow) but the doctor also thought there were a few spots that looked like ecxema too. Like always, Henry is a cooing, happy baby.
Clara on the other hand is a ... real challenge. I'm cleaning up several "soiled" pull-ups every day. We went through a pack of 44 in a week of that says anything. I guess i could tolerate that considering the physical situation we have going on - it's just that she has no remorse or shame or down-heartedness about the situation at all. She dances around and ignores my instructions so that we can get her cleaned up without making more of a mess - it's infuriating for me. I need God's grace to get through it being calm and without scarring her any more.
I did realize that there's no way i could have sent her to daycare with this all going on so it's probably a good thing I'm home with her. She did make it through 2 hours of Bible School each night this week without any messes. It's definitely more embarrassing for me than it is for her.
good night. E |

Clara just informed me that Henry, her dolls and herself are young and Mark and I are old. She's always making sure things are in their places! Happy Sunday. |

Henry had his 6 month appt yesterday at the pediatricians. He weighs 20lbs 1oz. In comparison, Clara weighed 19lbs 12oz at her 12 month appointment!
Mark got the garden planted on Sunday, Mother's day. Clara stayed the night at Peg and Larry's and Henry treated me to a 2.5 hour nap that afternoon so I had time to myself! It was splendid.
On Saturday, Tony and David helped Mark tear down and replace the ceiling in the kids' bathroom that was damaged from snow this winter. There's still work to do to finish but the part that Mark needed help on is done. Thank goodness.

Hello everyone,
Bet you thought this would never be updated again... Well guess you were wrong.
The biggest update is that Erin has decided to stay at home with the kids and go back to school to get her Geriatric Care Managers Certificate. She is very excited about the change of career and being able to be home with the kids. She has been home about a month now. They go to the library once a week and usually try to make it to the kids' Mass on Fridays.
Our barn is done and our driveway is now concrete. I have 1 garden all planted and am waiting to get the other 3 planted. I still have some dirt to move around the edges of the driveway.
I felt like there was more I should be saying, but now my mind has blanked out.
So I will leave it at that.
Have a good weekend! |
